Summer is so much more than a break at Our Lady of the Lake University— it’s an opportunity. º£½ÇÉçÇø’s Summer programs for high school and incoming college students offer a curriculum and agenda that ignites curiosity, builds community, and shares a real taste of college life.

Whether you're interested in social justice, STEM, education, or wellness, º£½ÇÉçÇø offers enriching Summer experiences designed to help students grow academically and personally. These college Summer programs also give participants the chance to explore campus, connect with professors and peers, and begin building the confidence and skills that lead to long-term success.

If you're looking for pre-college Summer programs that go beyond the classroom, here are six opportunities to consider this Summer at º£½ÇÉçÇø:

Flight School

Flight School is º£½ÇÉçÇø’s Summer bridge program for admitted students who will be starting as freshmen in the fall. Over two weeks, students live in a residence hall, participate in workshops, and get acclimated to university life before the first official day of class.

Participants are introduced to resources like academic support centers, student services, and peer mentorship. They also build relationships with faculty and classmates, meaning they start the Fall semester feeling connected, confident, and ready for success. It’s more than a head start— it’s a launchpad.

CDP Social Justice Living-Learning Community

Social justice is at the heart of º£½ÇÉçÇø’s mission, and students passionate about creating a more equitable world can start their journey early through this Living-Learning Community (LLC). Named for the Congregation of Divine Providence, the CDP Social Justice LLC brings together students interested in activism, advocacy, and service.

Participants explore topics related to equity, systemic change, and leadership through workshops and reflection. They also engage in community-based learning, building strong bonds with peers who share their values. This program is perfect for students who want to turn passion into purpose and be part of a supportive, mission-driven campus culture.

Honors Program Living-Learning Community

For students who thrive on academic challenge and curiosity, º£½ÇÉçÇø’s Honors Program Living-Learning Community offers the chance to engage in deeper, more interdisciplinary conversations. This Summer program introduces high-achieving students to the expectations and opportunities of the Honors Program, while also giving them a taste of life at a liberal arts college.

Participants live together on campus, attend workshops with Honors faculty, and begin forming the intellectual community that will support them throughout their academic journey. It’s an ideal fit for students who love learning, value small class discussions, and want to make the most of their college experience from day one.

NSF LSAMP Program

Designed for students pursuing future degrees in STEM, the NSF LSAMP Program (Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation) introduces high school graduates to the demands and opportunities of college-level science, math, and engineering courses.

Participants work closely with º£½ÇÉçÇø faculty and current students, gaining valuable lab experience and academic preparation. This program is ideal for students from historically underrepresented groups who are interested in STEM careers and want to start building a strong foundation through college summer programs. It’s a supportive, empowering environment that shows students they belong in these spaces.

TExAS FAST Scholars Program

The TExAS FAST Scholars Program (Fostering Academic Success and Transitions) is designed for incoming freshmen who plan to major in education and ultimately become teachers. The program blends mentorship, classroom exposure, and preparation for teacher certification, helping students hit the ground running as future educators.

Participants also explore social and cultural issues in education, build relationships with º£½ÇÉçÇø’s School of Professional Studies, and begin the transition from student to teacher. It’s a fantastic option for students who already see themselves leading a classroom and want to start strong with the support of a like-minded community.

SOAR Kinesiology Summer Program

Fitness, wellness, and movement take center stage in the SOAR Kinesiology Summer Program, a four day long immersive experience for students interested in physical therapy, sports science, athletic training, or other kinesiology-related fields.

SOAR participants explore careers in health and human performance while learning the science behind physical activity and well-being. With hands-on experiences and access to º£½ÇÉçÇø’s expert faculty, students get a firsthand look at how a passion for movement can translate into a meaningful and rewarding career.
